Located approximately 1.5 miles from Ashbourne, 5 miles from Dovedale and 8 miles from Alton Towers, Moore's Cottage Farm is ideally located for some of the best attractions of the Peak District.
Ashbourne (1.5 miles from Moore's Cottage Farm) is a handsome market town that has been an important trading centre since medieval times and is known as the 'Gateway to Dovedale and the Peak District'. There is a selection of interesting shops, numerous antique specialists, cobbled market place and a wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurants. It is famous for the traditional Shrovetide Football game taking place over 2 days between the ‘uppards and downards’ of the town.
Derbyshire is famous for gentle strolls or serious walking in superb countryside. There are footpaths across the fields around Moore's Cottage Farm, or within a short driving distance, Dovedale, with its famous stepping stones and Tissington with its Well Dressings.
Not far away is Manifold Dale with the vanishing river, Monsal Dale and Head, with superb views, Lathkill Dale, Bakewell and the River Derwent.
Outdoor activities include walking in the Dove and Manifold valleys, cycling along the Tissington Trail or Manifold Valley Trail and water activities at Carsington Reservoir.
Particular attractions for children are Alton Towers, with its thrilling new rides and indoor WaterPark - Splash Landings, Gulliver's Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham Cable Car and Caverns at Matlock Bath, Crich Tram Museum and Robin Hood's Visitor Centre in the Sherwood Forest, Nottingham.
Moore's Cottage Farm is within easy reach of several stately home and National Trust properties including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall, Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall and Eyam Hall.
